PORT ROCKERS RETROFEST – what a roaring success, well done everyone!

Our dates have been set for next year’s event which will be held 9th 10th & 11th September. If you are interested and are able to be involved we are taking expressions of interest from anyone who would like to be part of the planning of our next event. We will form a working party post- elections to undertake the roll out of next years RetroFest.

Whilst there is a lot of work to be done, the rewards and personal satisfaction in achieving a successful event are enormous.

Our Club AGM will be held on Tuesday 6th October at 7pm in conjunction with our classes at the Senior Citizens Hall.

Nomination forms are available on Tuesday nights for our Club Committee and we encourage you to consider a position on our Committee to grow and develop your Club. We have enjoyed a busy year and many happy events along the way.

Some of the Highlights from our weekend included the record crowds through the doors for both Saturday and Sundays festival days. Numbers exceeded our expectations and people revelled in the entertainment.

Friday night Rockhouse Party kicked off in paws with the great Deejay Jimmy Dee, wall to wall dancing and great fun!

SATURDAY FESTIVAL DAY

Nightmoves were sensational and wowed the crowds with their Living Dead Look – they had even created a RetroFest song for the event!

Our Miss Dolly Pin up girls paraded and the lovely Miss Rose Munster was crowned Miss Dolly 2015.

Whisky Rockers closed the day with a great foot stomping hour of dancing.

Saturday night did not disappoint with our Gala Ball – the Auditorium was transformed with the brilliant efforts of our Club members who got in and created a glamorous atmosphere in a very short time frame – well done all!

We had a sell out and people arrived looking absolutely glamorous for such a special night. Juke Box Jive were a sensation, Jimmy Dee kept the great music coming and everyone danced their hearts out.

Congratulations to all our beautiful entrants, finalists and winners.

This was indeed a night to remember with pride as a Club,

Sunday Chill down day again attracted crowds well in excess of expectations.

It was a lovely day and a nice way to enjoy the energy of the weekend.

Ukulele group – Khristina and the Z Chords were fabulous and the crowds wanted more.

Our Memphis morning tea was enjoyed by many.

Congratulations to our Showcase Dance group from Danceway Ballroom Studios for a very polished entertaining look at the 1950’s.

The afternoon was pumping with Jimmy Dee and his Rockin dance beat – everyone has a ball and danced themselves silly!

..and so ends a full weekend of fun and games. So many people to thank and so much great feedback.

We have a great Dance Club . Our Opportunities are immense, if we can continue to deliver fun times to our members and the wider community through the medium of our love of Rock and Roll we are making a great contribution to a happier world.
